I’m on a DHS kick, I guess (remember, this is Irrational Expectations). George Bush and Tom Ridge’s love child, the Department of Homeland Security, is busy building fences along the US-Mexico border to keep us safe from Mexican migrants. Note: screw you Emma Lazarus!
This pretty little graphic to the right is features prominently on the DHS web site. I wish it was a ticker like the national debt calculator. It would seem that DHS is neither familiar with the economics of prohibition (weaned at the ONDCP’s feet, perhaps?) nor with the basic operation of a sieve. I should have invested in some fencing companies.
It’s just a shade weird, isn’t it, that a Republican administration has spent so much effort bottling up and fencing off a border?
Why do I think that?
