When it comes to web applications at least, its the extensible applications which seem to me to be most successful. From Google’s apps to Facebook to Salesforce, applications built with an open API and shared extensions are making the big moves. These applications form the information andThus programming framework and on the business side, the subscription incentive (e.g. Salesforce). Thus they can meet a wide set of business needs without building a one size fits all application. It doesn’t take a seer to predict that we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of this.
